Leon Martel has come up with another opportunity to view Jimmy on the web, playing with the Percival Mackey band in 1933. The sequence runs for over two minutes and due to the fact that Jimmy is sitting in the centre of the band he is seen clearly throughout playing guitar and indeed has one brief close up with a slightly crooked smile. This film is very easy to access...
1. Click on the button below which will take you to the website...
2. A page headed ITN Archive will appear...
3. Click on the link on the left titled "View this story"...
4. Your computer will load Windows media player and start downloading the sequence. The words "buffering x%" will appear and when you reach 100% it is ready to play. Turn your sound on and click the play button on the Windows media player screen. Time needed to download will vary depending on your connection but is unlikely to be more than a few minutes...
5. There are options to view stills...

British Pathe...

This an extract from a recording at the Leicester Square theatre in London dated 22/9/1932 from a short film entitled ' Both sides of the curtain'. It features a number of music hall acts. It is also possible to download the whole film although this must be paid for...

It costs so litttle...(This appears to be no longer available)
Jimmy's made his last recording in 1942 with The Organ, the Dance Band and Me. This can be heard on the internet. There is a superb site covering the major theatre organists called - "Sounds of British Theatre Organists" which gives the opportunity to listen to many old recordings.
When you are on the site go down the page to The Organ, the Dance Band and Me, which is Billy Thorburn. There are a number of songs to select from. Switch on your loudspeakers select 'It costs so little', sung by Jimmy Mesene and sit back and enjoy...

If the above button does not work, or you get an error message go to the website 'http://theatreorgans.com' and then put 'The Organ, the Dance Band and me', into the search engine on the site at the top of the home page then follow the instructions above...
